Not all new builds are created equal and many lose value shortly after completion. This is especially true in large-scale developments, where properties are almost identical, built quickly and lack individual character.
How Artform builds differently
At Artform, we do things differently. We create new build homes that are designed to hold – and grow in – value over time.
Our developments are small in scale, comprising fewer than 20 homes (often less than ten). This allows us to focus on quality over quantity. The result is a sense of exclusivity that enhances the living experience and increases appeal on the resale market.
Unlike typical new builds, we don’t believe in cookie-cutter layouts. Instead, we design each home to feel unique, with varying floorplans, distinctive architectural features and carefully considered materials.

Case study: Hide, Hackney
We’ve seen the evidence first-hand. Five years ago, we completed Hide, a collection of nine apartments beside Haggerston Park, overlooking Hackney City Farm.
With the interior designers at Scenesmith on board, we made bold design choices. We used 100% natural rubber flooring, left plastered walls exposed and embraced concrete ceilings and blockwork. We dressed the show home entirely with reclaimed, repurposed and recycled furniture.
Influenced by the site’s leafy location, we sought out local suppliers such as Lozi and Altrock. Their use of natural materials reflected the verdant yet urban setting, grounding each apartment in it surroundings.
Last year, four years after completion, two Hide apartments resold. Their values had increased by 23-29% – a clear sign that thoughtful design and long-term vision pays off. One of these homes saw an uplift of £250,000.
And it’s not just at Hide. Using HM Land Registry data, we’ve reviewed every Artform home resold since 2022. The results are the same – every one has increased in value.
So – is buying a new build a good investment?
Not always. But when they’re built with care, character and a focus on the future, like every Artform home is, they absolutely can be.
